WHAT TO DO AND EXPECT AFTER YOUR COLON HYDROTHERAPY SESSION
Colonic irrigation is an energizing experience, as one’s body is freed from the effects of its own toxicity. It stimulates peristalsis (intestinal movement) more effectively than an enema.
A colonic is equatable to 4-6 enemas and is the most thorough and effective method of cleansing and hydrating the colon. Colonics slightly expand and cleanse the colon pockets, tone up colon muscles, stimulate peristalsis and purify the blood and lymph. You can anticipate feeling more peaceful, lighter, cleaner and more energized afterwards. If there has been a long standing condition of constipation or several health problems, a slight headache or fatigue may be experienced with the first or second colonic. If this is so, a short rest and drinking lots of water between meals will help restore oneself.
Since the colon has been cleared of solid matter, it may take one or two days before it fills up again and for normal bowel movements to resume.
Some water is absorbed through the colon wall during a colonic, and one may notice an increased need to urinate for a few hours or more afterwards. This beneficial effect of flushing the kidneys may also be enhanced by drinking a few glasses of water with the juice of half a lemon added to each glass.
A colonic has a profound cleansing effect on the body and many people feel so good afterwards that they want to double their jogging or work-out time. Caution is advised here, for it can be overdone. Although light to moderate exercise is good if you are used to it, any strenuous activity should be avoided that day. A light diet of fruits, vegetables, salads, soup and fish is suggested for 3-4 days. Vegan smoothies work well too. Take care to avoid anything that causes gas. Rich or heavy food, flour products, spices and alcohol should also be omitted the day of the cleanse. Although irrigating the colon does not remove all of the intestinal bacteria, it is still often helpful to take some form of pro-biotic or unsweetened yogurt, an active cleanser that also adds vital forces to the colon to maintain bacterial balance (Consult with this office regarding this to insure potency and how much is needed).
How often one should have a colonic depends on the diet, stress level, health, age and how successful the colonic was. Having a colonic until no mucous is visible was advisable by Edgar Cayce, 20th century Psychic and Medical Clairvoyant also known as the “father of holistic medicine”. A series of 6-10 colonics is highly
recommended to reach the older, hardened waste in the pockets of the colon. Thereafter, once monthly is the best, and if that is not possible, 4x a year is the alternative to keep up a healthy large intestine.
